Most IT recruitment agencies still operate as though we live in the 80's.

Agencies required large marketing budgets for advertising positions and their own brand awareness. It was important that they were based right in the city centre in key areas so that they were accessible to both clients and candidates. They also relied on employing high salaried sales people to prospect and win business from the blue chip companies.

In short, their overheads were huge, this allowed them to justify their margins.

But, the world has changed. We are now faced with a very different picture.
